Education and Outreach

The Arizona Department of Water Resources is committed to promoting responsible water stewardship through education.

Arizona Project WET

Arizona Project WET is the official water education program for the Arizona Department of Water Resources.

WET curriculum is correlated to Arizona State Standards at grade levels K-12 and in all curricular areas including Science, Language Arts, Social Studies and Math. Curriculum and Activity Guides are demonstrated and provided at state-wide professional development workshops.

Thanks to generous contributions by many sponsors, the workshops and all materials are available to teachers and non-formal educators at no charge.

Educator Workshops

Each WET workshop features at least one of the Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guides and explores the science, history, and/or mathematics of each concept through varied instruction methodologies that activate multiple learning styles.

Check the schedule and sign up for a FREE workshop today!

Make a Splash with Project WET Water Festivals

In addition to WET workshops, Arizona Project WET directs the WET Water Festivals held around the state each year. These events bring 4th graders together in a standards-based, hands-on, learning experience to super-charge their understanding of water concepts. Students report that learning at festivals is fun and teachers report that this field-study is a valuable experience for their students!

After the workshop and Water Festival, Arizona Project WET continues to support teachers in the classroom by making interactive teaching tools and other resources available for checkout to WET program alumni.

Kids in Discovery (KIDS)

The Kids in Discovery Series (KIDS) 16-page activity booklets are written and colorfully illustrated and provide creative, hands-on investigations, demonstrations, science experiments, educational games and stories that stimulate understanding of each booklet’s topic.

These informative, inexpensive booklets make excellent handouts to complement school curriculum or public education efforts.

These booklets can be purchased through the Project WET online store.
